Princetown To Taunton - 18th July 2012

This was the occasion I have been most frightened ever on a bike.  It was actually Su who I thought might have been killed.  We were cycling up a hill out on the outskirts of Exeter, when this bastard lorry driver decided he could not wait with his very full load of aggregate to overtake Su and decided to perform his manoeuvre on the brow of the hill just as the road narrowed considerably and another vehicle came over the hill. The lorry pulled over with Su at the middle of his truck.  From my viewpoint I really thought she was going under his back wheels.

We chased the lorry down the hill to the next lights where we gave him a piece of our mind.  We reported him to the Exeter Police who could not have been less interested and told us not to bother the as no-one was hurt. We contacted the firm that the lorry was working for  but they could not be bothered to reply.   This is what is wrong with sharing roads with this sort of traffic. (We were on a National Cycle Route!)
