Cholmondely To Heskin Green - 23rd July 2012

This was the part of the route where we deviated most significantly from the Cicero Guide route,  The Cicero route avoided the most industrial bits of Runcorn and deviated via Forest and Hill routes,  We decided to "cut the corner" here and go straight through Runcorn.  2012 was the early days of cycle route finding gear but I had an early route finding app and I put it to use here,  It actually did a fine job keeping us mostly to perfectly safe cycling routes - although at one stage we did have to lift our bikes over a fence in a park.  The industrial river/ship canal  crossing was actually rather magnificent.

Our final destination was the Blacksmith's Arms at Heskin.  This was lovely.  Welcoming.  It was half price supper day and all the OAPs were in and there was a fine atmosphere.
